    footwear ??

Okay,...I've got a footwear question now. As I plan to wear my kilt in quite a few outdoor situations I have been pondering the proper footwear for different conditions. Hiking boots are obviously okay, as are low cut moc-toe treaded shoes. What I've been wondering is if it's acceptable to wear a pair of Wellies with a kilt.

    Thanks

Theres nothing wrong with wearing Wellies with a kilt. I'm a landscaper and they're a necessity at times. I don't think they'd work well for hiking though. A good pair of hiking boots will keep your feet reasonably dry.

I usually wear a pair of Oakley Casing boots with my kilts. They are a tad on the pricey side, but are oh so sweet.

here is a link: Oakley Casing Boot

of course, take the pouch thing off the boot. Looks silly otherwise.

I'll have pics on my site as soon as I get a functional digital camera! ( mine is on the blink )

I mostly wear sneakers and Chacos with my kilts. I only wear other shoes if I'm "dressing up" a bit. I just wear what I'd usually wear anyway. I wear kilts to be comfortable, so why would I do anything different with my feet?

Flairball, where are you in Boston? I live in Allston, and am happy to get together sometime to answer any of your questions about kilting or hiking.

For those of you looking for boots, If they have your size, Sportsman's guide has some awsome deals. It's gotten to the point where I've stopped looking, 'cause I start saying "I want those ...and those ...and ...and ...and..." I have a stack of boot boxes in the other room; I think there's six of them!

Wellingtons are great with a kilt. Have you ever seen an episode of "Monarch of the Glen"?

Filmed in Scotland, lots of kilts, and not a bad storyline.

There must be at least one scene of a kilt w/ Wellies in each episode.

Hmmm...a kilt and some big rubber boots...I guess it doesn't do much for me, but, here in the US I think we tend to form over function a bit too much lately.

Here's a pair of Tartan Wellingtons
