    How can I get...

A 5.5yd chunk of the X Marks tartan?

I know I can just buy a kilt made in the tartan... but why do that when I can make my own?

    Freedom Kilts

I would contact Steve at Freedom Kilts, he is organizing this order, and there was talk about the weaver running out of thread and possibly having more time to order. I know I am waiting on my order right now. You can try to PM him, he is 'The Wizard of BC' on this board.

A run of the Xmarks tartan fabric is being run now. Check out this thread and contact Steve from Freedom Kilts about getting in on the run.

The pics of that tartan as a kilt are awesome.

And I've just been forced to rethink this plan... where I feel pretty comfortable doing all the sewing and what not to get this kilt made... I've yet to practice pleating to the stripe or to the set. All I have worked with so far is a camo pattern, so I wasn't worried about the pattern showing up in the pleating. I think I'm going to start with some cheaper material then go from there. Surely there'll be a third run at some point.

This tartan just looks way too good to have to work it over and over.

    Blazn,

I imagine there will at some point be another order but it's a real hassle for Steve so wouldn't bet on how long it might be. If I were you I"d go ahead and contact Steve to order fabric and then just hang onto the fabric until you feel confident enough to make a kilt from it or pick a kilt maker to do it for you. A bird in the hand after all....

I should... I just found out that the present financial position doesn't allow for it. The wife interjecting logic... she just had to remind me about the pending 5000 mile move across one ocean and the entire country. Yep... Hawaii to Maine... and I have to do it in 10 days!
