    The 'Where's Graham' thread

OK, boys and girls, gather 'round whilst I tell you a story.

There once was a member of a kilt forum that repeatedly over-stepped his bounds, with respect to the forum rules. As a result, that individual lost membership on that kilt forum.

After giving the situation consideration, this individual decided to establish a kilt forum of his own, one with a heavy, religious foundation. (Each of you is entirely welcome to formulate your own opinion as to why this other forum came about, but we ask that you keep that opinion to yourself.)

A quick aside - There is nothing wrong with anyone establishing a competitive forum, just in the same manner that one fast food business builds next door to another fast food business. Competition is usually healthy, as it requires competitors to keep exercising. But is considered to be bad taste to advertise one business, while standing within the other, eh? Now, back to our gripping story.

The administrator of the second forum had at least one individual register for his forum that practices an alternative lifestyle (dear, I hope that is PC enough for everyone). As the administrator of his own forum, he removed comments from this member, which was well within his right to do. Unfortunately, there was a sad side effect, for in his zeal to 'cleanse' his forum, a few comments were made about the members of the first kilt forum, the one he had once held membership in.

Said comments were thought to have been rude and uncalled for, by many members of that first kilt forum. However, a few members felt that the administrator of the second kilt forum was correct in what he was saying and doing, which was well within their right to do. As a result, those members cast their lot with the second forum. And, really, that's OK. Everyone needs to find a place where they can be comfortable.

Which almost brings us to the end of the story.

The staff of the first forum are hideous, mean and overbearing ogres (just ask around) who have been handed a list of rules to enforce. And while they all realize that competitive forums are only going to help strengthen the first forum, neither are they going to stand by and watch other, competitive sites be promoted within their own.

So, a decree was issued across the land. As the first kilt forum seeks neither mention nor links to be placed on the second forum, neither will mention or links to the second forum be welcomed on the first.

I think this would be the point where it is usually appropriate to say, "And they lived happily ever after", but that is probably stretching things a touch.

The question was asked about Graham's whereabouts. The question was answered, but I will answer it one more time. He is involved with another kilt forum. He still visits X Marks on a somewhat regular basis, but apparently is more comfortable with his freedom to express his religious faith on the other forum. And you know, there is nothing wrong with that, at all. The rule here is no religious discussion and Graham didn't care much for that rule. As such, I tend to believe he made a good choice to move his active participation to the other forum. I take the X Marks rule one more step, in that I do not discuss religion here, nor do I discuss kilts whilst in my pulpit on Sunday mornings.

For those that want to visit with Graham on the other forum, Mr. Google is your friend. We ask that if and when you visit there, that you demonstrate respect to that forum's administrator and not try herding any of his members back across to this site.

For those that desire further discussion of this matter, please use e-mail or Private Messaging.
