You are all invited...
anyone in the san diego area is invited to my graduation at Ramona Lutheran School. ask the address. my dad will reward you with a beer or scotch. the reason for the invite is for a protesting type event. my principal would rather me not wear my kilt but my dad is wearing one along with me and my brother. well if you are available the only condition is you must wear a kilt to protests the principals bad taste and stereotyping.
Thanks

Hey, I used to live there....back in about 1971...on a hill over the airport. Think the town's grown a tad since then.
Good luck with your "kilt in."

To a graduation? You're wearing a graduation gown, right? With the graduation gown, it's just about impossible to tell what you're wearing underneath. So there should be no problem.
Really bringing the point home: At the conclusion of the ceremony, he'll no longer be your principal. So his actual authority is going to go up in smoke.
Even so, this is an occasion to dress respectfully and remember that this is a semi-formal event. Utilikilt and wife-beater? No. 8-yard traditional, shirt & tie, ghillies & hose? Yes. Full Prince Charlie? No, too much.
However, as this is still a school event, best to leave the sgian dubh home. If you bring a "weapon" to the graduation, that's asking for trouble from people with more authority than your principal.

What's he gonna do, not give you your diploma? Wear the kilt.

As UglyBear said, make sure to do this respectfully to the occasion (not the man). You could make a real impact with this as long as you keep it civil and repsectful.
At my graduation we had people who wore hawaiian outfits and then pulled the old "Flasher" after they got hteir diploma. I advise against this tactic as it reduces the kilt to a party favor a diminishes the respectful intention of the choice of attire.
Don't let the urge to showboat take over and you will accomplish the goal.
Best of luck!

Congrats on graduating,
When I graduated in Houston 65 the event was outdoors on a hot night and we were told not to wear shorts. I wore the robe, under I wore a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, black converse rolled down black socks. Some of the guys wore cowboy boots with shorts, (We were in Texas). Of course after we all took of the robes and were quite comfortable. The guys in cowboy boots got some grief about looking dumb and as stated above it is not just your ceremony. Be cool and have fun.

I wish I could be there to support you, if its any consolation I'll be there in spirit. I agree with the others here - the key is to present yourself in a sharp dressed (but not over-dressed) manor respectful to the occasion. I'm sure you'll bring honor to yourself and to all kilt wearers.
Congraduations on your accomplishent!

This reminds me, was it Josh or another young guy who was going to prom and wanted to know what to wear, a kilt or a suit. What ever happened there?
If the kilt is on under your gown, so what. Nick did it and so have others. Nick's was a college graduation, but no one knew until after.
DALE.
You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!
