West Kentucky Highland Games

Charlotte Harris, president of the West Kentucky Highland Games Committee has asked me to post this update info on this year's event:
Games this year will be
held at Central Park in Murray...dates are 9/15 - 9/17 with Saturday 9/16 being
date for the games. Ceilidh will be Friday 9/15 and Kirkin of Tartans will be
Sunday, 9/17.
This is good new for those of us in the Western Ky/Tenn area. Until this year (Save for 2005, when the games were canceled for the year) the event has been held in Paducah..... This will mark the first year for Murray to host them.

I would love to have more information on this as well. I wasn't able to make it to the glasgow games, but I would love to get to these.

Well, it's finally here. Besides myself, anyone else attending this event in....5 hours and 7 minutes?
It's a wee bit too hot to wear any of my 16oz Wool Kilt Tanks, at least for my fat ****, but I'm going (albeit with pitifully little rest).

Well folks,
I went, I saw,........ I was underwhelmed! Let's just say I feel very sorry for those who traveled some distance to attend this folk fair (I hesitate to call it a Highland Games proper).
I was not in any way a part of the committee who put this flop together, so please don't kill the messenger if you were one of those who DID travel to attend.

A*b*s*o*l*u*t*e*l*y! Sad to report. I had high hopes for this event, having moved from Big D and anticipating a "real" Highland Games locally at last.

With two years to prepare for this new location/venue, I'd say the "committee" really dropped the ball. Brutally honest, but true none the less.

ahh, well then that makes me feel much better, though it is sad.

I'll just try again to make it to Glasgow next year.
