Vote Scottish Fold for CFA Cat Idol
For anyone who is interested there is a competition for this years Cat Fanciers Associations Cat Idol. A Scottish Fold is in a close race this year. Show your Scottish pride and go to (and vote):
http://www.cfainc.org/centennial/contestants.html
(I didn't know how to make the link. You will need to cut and paste)
Send the web page to your friends to vote too. The closest competition is a Maine Coon and that group is making derogatory remarks and refering to Kinross James McGlynn (the Scottish Fold) as Fold boy.
The clock is running on the World Wide Cat Idol competition. We want a Fold to win. They are a popular exhibit at the Games and it would be fun to put in the program - that a Scottish Fold is the World Cat Idol.
Those of you who are Scottie lovers, the following is a message sent to Scottie folk from our fellow Foldie owners who also has a Scottie. It contains the link of where you can vote for James McGlynn (We know him as Jimmy)
Dear Terriers of the Highlands,
I am Onslo, a Scottish Fold cat and member in good standing of the Hooligans. I want to let you know of a black and most grievous slur against Scotties in fur everywhere. As you know, my bud, Jimmy, recently won the Championship semi-finals, thanks to strong support from all of you. He is now in the finals for Cat Idol. His closest competitor is a Maine Coon.
It has been reported that the Maine Coon people have posted on their lists that they must do everything to prevent a cat of SCOTTISH ancestry from becoming the Cat Idol. Yes, that's right, they are playing the fur race card! (loud chorus of boos).
Now, we Folds are generally quite laidback, live and let live kind of folks. BUT, this has my furry Scottish blood boiling, and so it should for you Scottie dogs and, indeed, every highland breed.
We could take the low road here and talk about how common a certain breed of cat is and how they are often aggressive towards dogs, even dogs they live with. After all, this is a direct attack on all of us. But, we must stay on the high road as befits our proud ancestry of Bobbie Burns, tartan plaids, and Scottish Shortbread cookies. (waits patiently for the deafening chorus of Arooos, tail wagging, and lip smacking to subside).
Jimmy is carrying the banner for all of us in fur who have the blood of Brave Heart running through our veins. Now, more than ever, is the time to show your pride in your Highland ancestry. Let the clarion call of AROOO ring out over hill and dale. The battle is joined! Go forth, spread the word: Vote for Kinross James McGlynn:

(front paws waving in the air amidst deafening paw clapping and jaw clacking) Thank you. Thank you very much.
Onslo Juslin

So far James McGlynn, the Scottish fold is leading by 145 votes! Gawd, he's a good looking kittie.
A kilted Celt on the border.

If it wasn't for the Scottish Fold I would vote for the Maine Coon too. That being said the Scottish Fold is loosing ground by almost three hundred votes. Spread the word to any group your know (St Andrews Society, Clan Societies, Highland Games or Celtic Heritage Days committees, etc.) to see if we can put the feline pride of Scotland on the map and chalk up another claim to fame. For anyone on committees for Highland Games, or Celtic Heritage Days this would be a nice addition for the coming year along with dogs and livestock that might be part of your program.
Just look at that face. It's already streamlined. Bet he would make a good mouser around the barn.
Cheers! Bill
