"Painting" Ballistic Nylon??

Cloves reminded me with her question about brown leather, but didn't wanna steal that thread.

I'm really liking my SWK Ballistic Nylon Sporran....but I need one in Brown.

I'm guessing that's either never gonna happen - do they make brown ballistic nylon for Sheriff's and Corrections Officer's gear? - or its a long long way down the line.

I know nylon gets its color when the thread is made. Not much sticks to it.

Was wondering if there was something like a leather paint that would stick to the nylon cloth and not look too much like a child painted it.

No clue how to do the black zippers.

But checking with the experts on this board to see if I'm overlooking something.

Happy to buy another black one to alter to brown if there was a way of doing that.

well...they definately make Cordura in brown. I'm not sure if ballistics nylon is the exact same as Cordura but it seems to me it would be similar. I've seen it on ebay.

I was looking for weapons cases quite a long time ago for my bo and shinai and found a website called Bujin Design
If they can come up with sources for the fabric here in North America I'm sure Stillwater can too.

back to the topic at hand I'm not sure I'd want to paint a a new sporran, but I'm wondering if you could give it a try on an old backpack or gymbag made of similar material?
