    Angry Unhappy camper!

Called UK once again to find out where my kilt was. Thursday it will be 8 weeks since my order was placed. Finally talked to someone who cared about my order.

Apparently the utilikilt was cut then didn't make it through quality controll, so they cut it again ... AND LOST THE SECOND CUT!!!

So now they have no idea when my ukilt might be ready, they really do not even know where in the process it is at the moment and don't know when it will be ready ... BUT my name/uk is on the very top of the list.

The only good thing is they comped me a belt.

Sorry for the steam, its just frustrating to spend your hard earned money for someone to lose your freaking order.

Not sure they will get much more of my business.

The last UK I purchased--and it may be the last UK for a long while (although, that white version they have again is calling)--took all eight weeks to deliver. If I order again, I may have to ask, "What do you have IN STOCK, RIGHT NOW, that you can ship? OK. I'll take one of those. Yes, I'll wait while you package it up....Can you repeat that shipping number?"

Actually, I don't mind a little wait, but seriously, after 40,000 product sold and shipped, don't you think they'd be able to anticipate a certain number can be on hand at any time?

    Sharing your jones,

    Aye FS,

My first UK was the same...took 12 weeks...they said the same thing...didn't pass quality control have to remake it.

Most of the recent UK's I've bought have been like Rex says, off the scratch and dent rack or from a private party. Less hassle that way....though I have lucked out a couple times and had UKs show up in a few weeks from the factory.

I'm sure glad I went ahead and wondered into this thread. I've been looking into UKs. Now, if and when I decide to buy one, it will not be a custom order from them.

    Hey Brad,

The black workman's is perfect for your look. You can get them from Amazon of all places....don't know if they ship from a stock at Amazon or it will add to the delay.

God help you when you finally do get your first UK...its like a sub-addiction of kilt addiction....I'm holding the line at 14 UKs now and wear them a LOT.

Well.....I was thinking that I had better get all my UKs ordered pronto.

I only have one but I love it. I want more. However, as these things get more popular I can see the wait times increasing dramatically.

I just talked to them the other day and they do have Mockers in stock in case anyone cares. They are apparently not quite as popular. However, I asked about the originals and the denims and there were none to be had.

I have seen this with small business before and I don't know how small UK is....but they don't want to add more staff until they are SURE they really have the orders and a sustainable customer base. If what some people are saying is true and there is a worldwide increase in guys ordering kilts it might take a while for UK to ramp up production.

    Just my 2 cents worth.....

Oh....wait what am I saying....now all you guys who love these things are going to all order at once!

No...I was just kidding - they have warehouses full of the things and there will never be a shortage. Just joking around! HA-HA

    Ron,
I've found some VERY odd things through Amazon in the past. I've always wondered myself if they have a stock if everything, or of they're 3rd partying them or what.

I was really bummed that there wasn't a UK booth at the Flagstaff games. Nikki and I saw several UKs wondering the streets the Friday before. After seeing them in person, she decided that I MUST have one. Lucky me huh? So, I had full intention of buying one at the games. But, me being the impatient one, I settled with that Buzz canvas kilt. I do like it a great deal though. After seeing the website you posted, I realized I got mine for $20 cheaper than they normally sell for online. Not bad at all. The guy at the booth kept trying to push the Black Watch tartan kilt on me. But, after my own reading and reasearch I decided some time back that I wouldn't wear that tartan.

As far as the black Workman: I like that one. But, I don't know that it would be my first purchase from them. I really like the look of the mocker. And, I'm a pretty big fan of earth tone fabrics ie. khaki, basil blah blah blah. My 'tough guy' look is mostly just that... a 'look.' I'm a big softy Well, unless threatened or provoked, then out pours the Celtic Rage... heh.

Brad, you mentioned on another thread that a woman in Wal-mart took your picture secretly. I have to say that your look, and no disrespect intended, is enough to make the general public look 2-3 times, kilt not withstanding, and want a picture. Since the great tats are part of this, I have to agree with Ron on the black UK.

And to be honest, if you were on the arm of the very exotic woman you have for a wife, I would not be able to look away! She is a very gorgeous (latin?) woman. Salud to you.

    Kilts can do this.

I have had the fabric for a kilt just vanish, and then reappear.

This is not exactly amazing if you could see the amount of stuff strewn around the house - but when you were just working on the mathematics on the back of an envelope, then look round and find you can't see the fabric it does seem a bit weird.

That is the thing about an untidy house - you find things exactly where you left them - except for the things which unacountably vanish, and then sometimes reappear either in the place you left them, or in another part of the house where they had no business to be at all.

Of course some things vanish never to reappear, but then there are the things you never saw before which are just suddenly there.

I think it might have something to do with distortions in space and time when there are high concentrations of anything in a small area.

Some strange things must happen around Hamish's Kilt Kollection.

For what it's worth, I share your pain. I ordered a denim kilt from UK in June, and it will probably be too big for me by the time I get it

I know that Utilikilt is going through some growing pains right now. The owner of the building where they have their shop is kicking them out at the end of August with plans to tear the place down and redevelop. UK is looking at several new locations and will probably end up in downtown Seattle, which will make it easier to get to and bring in a lot of people off the streets. Apparently they've recently hired several new sewers to (hopefully) keep up with demand, and getting them trained has resulted in QC issues and inventory snafus.

I really hope they can get these things worked out, and soon: I would hate to see UK fold because they were more successful than they could handle.
