Smile Arizona State tartan kilt arrived today!

As I was getting ready to leave for work this morning a FedEx package arrived from the Scottish Tartan Museum with my new Arizona State tartan 16-oz box-pleat kilt courtesy of Mr. Newsome. Matt really surprised me with this 'cuz it was just a couple weeks ago or so he sent me an e-mail saying that he'd gotten the cloth from the weaver & that he'd start work on mine next after he finished the one he was currently working on.

    Great job, Matt!

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try it on, but I did pull it out & it looks fantastic. The tartan looks much better "in-the-wool" than the online sample.

This makes for kilt #8 & my 3rd trad tartan. It's taken me 3 yrs to get 8 kilts, so at this rate, in another 21 yrs I should have as many kilts as Hamish has now!

I'll be taking the new kilt over to Arizona Kilts to get the shipping creases steamed out & then I'll post a picture or 2 hopefully by this weekend.

    Stay tuned...

I was going to say "where are the pictures" so I will be anxiously awaiting them.

By the end of the week I should be up to eight kilts but I'm cheating - just ordering ones that I can get fast.

By next month I hope to be up to 10 and I will pause there - at a nice round number.

Anyway, I am anxious to see that AZ tartan.

    Congratulations!

    Retro,

Don't spend money to get those creases stemed out. That kind of minor thing you can take care of.

First, I'd try just hanging the kilt up -- chances are any creases in the cloth from shipping might just hang themselves out after a couple of days.

If that doesn't work, a little touch-up ironing at home with your iron set to the wool setting and high steam will get them out in a heartbeat.

    Wear it well!
    Aye,
    Matt
