Kilts and NFL Football
I was here watching NFL pre-season and was thinking of kilts and NFL gear/kit.
For the "purists" among us:
Are NFL jerseys appropriate with kilts?
Should they be worn in or out of the kilt?
Would you stop me when I am wearing a jersey and a kilt? :rolleyes:
For the NFL fans among us, what are good kilts to go with the jerseys?
The colors must coordinate well, as well as being appropriate. Stolen clan tartans are not good unless they is some real tie to the team (owner, founder, most famous player, or likewise).
Initial proposal:
Carolina Panthers-> Carolina, ancient
Atlanta Falcons-> Georgia (if red)

Funny you should bring this up. Ron has just demonstrated his thoughts on it. I think it looks pretty nifty.

Ron, what tartan is that?
For the Cards, that burgundy/garnet looks nice.
Buffalo Bills (and New England Patriots)-> American Bicentennial

Bradley,
Ron and youself are definately distinct from one another. I just assumed he would know and read this thread.
I just found it after I posted above.
It looks nice.
I happen to have blood ties to Wallace, which also works for the Falcons and for MacNeil and Gordon, which both work for Green Bay (who have a soft spot in my heart- though I've never even been there).
Are there non-Clan options for teams?

I'm sure there are plenty 'o options. The first one to come to my mind is SWK Nightstalker paired with Raiders gear. I have no ties to Wallace though I do have a Wallace red from SWK. That one could be paired with with many teams (Chiefs would match all the colours.)

Okay, I'm unpacked now...yup, that's a USA Kilts Thomson Gray in semi-traditional model.
Wore it yesterday for the drive up to Flagstaff to meet my lady and her daughter at a bar to watch the preseason between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The ladies are devout Steelers fans, having moved here from Steelers country...so I wanted to represent the home team.
If you'll look on the AmeriKilts website, in their gallery, think you'll see some AKs with Philadelphia Eagle's jerseys.
I know Jeff made a great New England Patriots kilt with a large flying Elvis on the kilt apron. And of course Jeff made all them two color Steelers kilts.
There is LOTS of kilted NFL action going on.
I live in a small town (7,800) where high school football is big. I bought a black Stewart SportKilt to wear on game days since the school colors are black and red and white. Since then have acquired a black and red Cameron to wear on game days....and often wear my black Utilikilt with red kilt hose and a black hoodie with the high school logo.
Kilts go well with Stateside football...

Speaking of the Steelers, I live in diehard Steeler country and have found that my Dress MacLeod makes a nice substitute for a "terrible towel" during games (team color-wise). My friends & I refer to it as the "terrible tartan".

Before I settled on a tartan for my tank, I seriously considered purchasing the one that most closely matches the colors of my beloved (but woeful) New York Jets. I'd wear a jersey with that, for sure.

And, don't forget, if you happen to have a Utilikilts White Workman's, or can get one, its perfect to wear with ANY NFL team's white jersey.
