Travel Channel - making a kilt in Glasgow
The Travel Channel is doing an episode on Glasgow right now. They just went to commercial, but are about to visit a kiltmaker's shop.
Keep your eyes open for the reruns.
UPDATE: OK, that segment was way too short.

I saw this episode on the Travel Channel early last week, the host of the show, Samantha Brown asked the shop owner about her "plaid". The shop owner showed her the list, and then pulled out a bolt of MacMillan Tartan and showed her how much material it would take to make an 8 yard kilt.

that part always amazes people when I tell them how much material I am wearing ( when in a tank ). They most often look in utter amazement and confusion. Can be fun sometimes when you tell them that you have enough cloth to make a decent tent wrapped around your waist, and you are not a size 88.

The origin of the saying
I'm a big man 280 lbs 6'4" and ample around the hips... suffice to say I now know the origin of the saying, "the whole 9 yards."
