ATTN: MARINES and the rest of ya
I am going to the USMC ball on 11 Nov 2006
i am having Alexis Malcolm make the kilt
5 yard pleated to stripe(not sure if it will be to the double yellow or the red stripes idea behind the red is for the yellow to flash as the kilt moves)
need to know what to wear with it!
please post any pictures you have of marine corps kilt items and where you got them if you recall
INCLUDING KILTS not just tartan swatches!

Just a quick note to tell you how much you're going to LOVE your Alexis Malcolm kilt. I have one of her 8yd kilts, in the Ireland's National...it's beautiful, comfortable, well-fitting, and everything I could want in a kilt!

I believe Riverkilt picked up one of these K-Bar sgain's
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ighlight=k-bar
and also,
Don McKee that Todd mentioned has a plain pewter kilt pin just like the one on his web site only without the gold in his collection but is not on his site. It's the ONLY one like it.

I would have gone for the full 8 yard kilt to go to the ball, but that's your decision.
Alexis Malcolm has several military themed accessories for each of the services. The Marine kilt pin:

Aye,
Here's a pic of the mini-Kbar...its actually a letter opener so don't expect to use it for real.
They're made up by Kathy Lare's husband. Think I paid about $55 but its worth it. Just the handle sticking out of my hose shouts "Marine" to anyone in the know.
You can inquire at www.kathyskilts.com but don't think its on the website. You might also be better with a phone call 505-821-6215 since she's usually sewing rather than online. They're a Marine family.
I've seen a lot of hand sewn leatherneck/Marine tartan kilts at highland games and they are beautiful! The wool is much nicer than the kilts made from less expensive materials.
Do post pictures!

There appears to be a picture of the SportKilt leatherneck tartan on this page, might give some idea of the look.

And www.Scotland Forever.net has a big USMC belt buckle and www.scottishcountryshop.com has a USMC kilt pin.
Jeez...now I'm in a shopping mode....
