    Rocking On

I have reported previously how my kilt wearing is totally accepted at the church I go to. Well, I also play drums with the church music group and last Sunday I thought "What the hey?" and turned up in Black Watch lightweight, navy shirt and knee socks, and black loafers.

It made drumming so much more pleasurable, and the only comments I had were both asking about the tartan. There were a few double takes.

Isn't it grate to be accepted as you are?

    Barry,
As a musician I would have thought you would have worn the kilt playing drums first and then for church not vice a versa?

I did the same thing! I play drums for my church and while I've worn the kilt to play in the past it has been a couple of years. Sunday morning my pastor made the comment as I walked by that my pants were just so boring. It's not the first time he's kidded me about my kilts. So, that night I turned up in my new Fitzsimmons to play with the Praise Band and as luck would have it, he had fallen ill and wasn't there to see it. Oh well, I'll catch him next time. No comments from anyone other than a few friends but when we went across the street to the deli to grab a bite to eat I heard some woman say, "There's a piper!" as I walked by. Nope, just drums!

Well it might make an interesting, albeit non-standard, combination.
