Seattle trip report
Wasn't quite sure where to post this, so "general kilt talk" it is. If the mods deem it to be moved, make it so.
Karen and I just arrived home from a whirlwind 5-day vacation to the Seattle area. What a blast! As Kilted John mentioned in another post, I did the 12-hour drive down with no sleep. I've always had insommnia issues so it wasn't that big of a deal. I was a little beat when we arrived, but I survived. Did the trip home the same way, no sleep last night. I don't know why this happens, but almost every time I have to go somewhere I can't sleep. Frustrating.
I did not pack ANY pants for the trip, just 3 kilts (Although I managed to come home with 4. Go figure). I wore my UK for the drive down and back, and the other 3 days were split between my Irish National trad and my SWK Hunting McLeod. Both worked out very well for the unsettled Seattle weather, although I quickly discovered that the lighter-weight Stillwater Standard is no match for a strong headwind whilst standing on the bow of a ferry. I'm sure a few passengers got "the answer" without even asking! The SWK was quite comfortable in the 50F degree temps that we had while there. I got a number of compliments on the kilts, and not a single negative comment. A few stares, but that's to be expected.
Tuesday evening culminated with a fantastic meet 'n' greet with some of the local Xmarks rabble. Efer and his lovely wife, Morrison, Streetcar, and Kilted John Sporrano all came out to the Celtic Bayou restaurant and pub for drinks. We had a great time, even though I got lost trying to find the place. Would have been fine if I hadn't forgotten the map at the motel. D'oh!!
Btw...I think Morrison has big brass ones. He rode over, kilted, in the cold rain, on his motorcycle! Wow!!!!! Not something I would be willing to do. LOL
Wednesday was spent walking around the city center, including a trip to Pikes Place Market and a side trip to the UK headquarters to buy a new belt. Not sure how I ended up walking out with another UK Original in dark blue that was on the Scratch'n'Dent rack, but that's a whole other story. Let's just say that Uncle Otto is a great salesman.
Karen took a short break and sat behind one of the desks. She looked like she belonged there, as you can see in the pics. After we left UK we headed over to the Space Needle. I loved the "artwork" in the front entrance area...made for a perfect photo op.
Thursday we took the ferry across to the Olympic Penninsula so we could drive up to Port Townsend. Had a great time there, although it was windy and quite cold. Took a pile of pics of the many historic buildings, but I won't bore you with those ones. LOL
Speaking of pics...they will be in my followup posts.

Here's a few of the pics...
You can't go to Seattle and not stop at the Pikes Place Market. Incredible!! This pic is not kilt-related, but I thought it turned out pretty nice.
Kyle (Streetcar) and Russell (Morrison) at the kilt night.

Efer (Eric) and his lovely bride.

The rabble at the Celtic Bayou restaurant and Pub.
L to R: Morrison, Streetcar, Efer, Al G. Sporrano, and Kilted John Sporrano.

What would a kilt night be without a "Hamish" pose. (Kilted John is doing his version of the cardboard Derek. LOL

More pics...
Morrison rode over on his Harley Sportster. I have so much respect for this man...it was raining lightly and about 45F.

Uncle Otto trying to find a UK for Karen on the scratch 'n' dent rack. And you thought it only existed in fairy-tales!

May I take your order, please? Karen looks like she belongs there!

Got Kilt? UK's waiting for new homes.

Ya gotta have big ones to wear a kilt. Wait! One's missing!!

The end.

OMG!! It's hardly believable! Fab pix and the sky so fair!! Seeing it from here - the pix now, it has a whole new life, and meaning!!!
Last month my brother was bragging to his girlfriend that his brother (me) always wears leathers when riding. When I showed up in Chico, CA at his door in leathers he discovered how right he is!!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Yes.... and the leather kilts do hve a rather commanding presence to them as well. It's too bad they are so expensive... I think we'd see alot more of them around.
Fun pix, Al.

Great pics and its nice to be able to match names to faces.
But somebody needs to tell Uncle Otto that a kilt is warm enough without needing to be teamed with blue jeans
