Kilted At Wal-mart
GOOD DAY, Well after my brother and his family started thier trip back to Tex. I had to make a run to the store. On the way home I stopped at a local Wal-Mart. There I am inside checking out a few things when this gent walks up to me, mind you he has early thirties, a very short haircut sidewalls around the ears were high and tight, plus you could just make a tatoo, Semper F... something. He took one look at me in my SWK Black Watch and made a sound something like "whoo raa". Then he turned and went on with his shopping, I belive that I just got the highest praise that I may ever receive for being kilted. GOOD DAY Wes The more people that I meet the more I like my dog.

Yep, that was an utterance of acceptance, spoken by a man of few words.

I have found that military types tend to be very accepting of the kilt. Perhaps it's because they have encountered some kilted troops on one of their assignments overseas.

Any Wal*Mart I've ever been in has had a rather eclectic cast of characters anyway. A kilt couldn't possibly be seen as out of place there.

Maybe a few stares, and some finger pointing by some small kid with the comment mommy that man is in a ..... Well you all know about that. One day last year as I was going into the shop a driving range (yes I do golf kilted) a elderly lady stopped me and ask "young man why in the world are you wearing that". My come back "Madam if I don't wear this I would be arrested since it is unlawful to have a bare butt in public". hehe

I was in a Walmart in June during the Potomac Celtic Festival. I had a few teens stare a bit, and one Pakistani looking gentleman who walked by several times while I eas trying on some boots, but no one said anything. So far my trips to stores and such have been a little disapointing. You'd think that people around my area see kilts everyday. I am going to start a thread about our family get together over the Thanksgiving weekend, though.
