    BruichLaddich? The Peat Proposal?

    Gents:

When it comes to Scotch, I'm an enthusiastic amateur. I like what I drink and I drink what I like, mostly, in sturdy peasant fashion, what my father drank before me (Glenfiddich).

I recently picked up a bottle of BruichLaddich's 3D The Peat Proposal. I quite like it! My palate is not so educated as to say what it tastes like (hint, hint, P1M!) but it does feel very peaty, and quite tasty!

    Anyone else tried some?

    Best,

    KC

BruichLaddich's 3D The Peat Proposal - kinda sounds like a movie title...

Can't say I've heard of that one, but I'll check for it the next time I head to the wine & spirits emporium.

I keep at least 3 bottles of single-malt Scotch on hand (not in my hand ). One each of my 2 favorites/standbys - Cragganmore & Laphroaig 15-yr. The other bottle is for new stuff to try.

    Slainte mhath!

Aye, Ozone, tis abundantly clear that you do not labor in a profession where your financial recompense is tied to the number, quantity, or mass of words that ye use when ye explains yerself. I would have spun a web of mystery, which you neatly boiled down to "peaty and very tasty"! Well done!

KC, congratulations on stepping up to what might be called a "big whisky". The 3D is one of a number of special release whiskies from Bruichladdich. If you can manage it, try some of the other Islay whiskies as well. In addition to the two mentioned above, I am very partial to Lagavulin. To aid in your education, pick up Michael Jackson's Guide to Sigle Malts. (NO!! Not that Michael Jackson. This would be the plump, bearded Englishman!) Most of all, enjoy your journey of discovery. In closing I'll quote an old Irish toast..,,

And then, once you have a healthy appreciation for peat, get a bottle of Ardbeg 10yo. Great stuff!

I love peaty malts like Lagavulin, Laphroiag, Coal Ila and Ardbeg.

Older (15 years...and up) peaty malts are often more balanced...less harsh...more expensive also

Maybe a sampling of Pritchards rum, as well.
