buying kilt outfit
hello everybody in this snowing morning (great winter in Poland).
I want to buy kilt outfit.
What do U think - are these kilt outfits are good, good composed, the prices are fine or not.
I saw long list of tartans and really don't know which to choose.
I've bought few things from Highland Store and know that they have high quality goods, so I'm not afraid but I want to know what is your opinion.
best regards,
ado

I haven't used them myself so far but the prices looks very competitive and the quality looks good.

I have to agree with Mclef. The prices look like they're in line and from the pictures the quality looks okay too. I don't know if you would be better off with an argyle jacket rather than the PC as the prince Charlie is rather formal and unless you attend a lot of posh functions I don't believe you would get a whole lot of use out of it. Besides an argyle would normally cost less then a pc.

The stuff looks good, and the prices are inline, I believe.
I echo the advice to consider an argyl jacket, maybe even a tweed depending on how much you dress up. And, I would consider colered hose instead of white or off-white.
Otherwise, congratualtions on selecting an excellent style of dress. You will look smashing no matter which outfit you choose.

Be aware that the standard and the deluxe outfits only have 4yard kilts. If you can swing it get the 8 yard kilt to get the true "swing" of the kilt.
Read standard kilt outfit as a budget kilt outfit. The 8 yard kilt is really the standard for kilts. The 8yard kilt is more versitile and can be dressed up or down and at 13oz fabric you may want the extra weight and swing of an 8 yarder.

I agree with everyone else. The prices seem "in line." It just seems to me that the "super deluxe model" should be heavyweight (16 oz.) tartan. But, that's just my opinion...

I think I might be worried about the pleating on the "Mens Pure Wool 2 Yard Saxony Kilt" though!

Holy moly! Saxony? Stay away from 2 yarders and saxony, I think.
You'll want worsted, and if you really want the kilt look, go for the 8 yard as mentioned above.

I have not orderd from them, however I would go for the Super Deluxe Kilt Outfit, if it were a choice between the 3 shown, simply for the quality of the kilt itself, remember you dont need to wear it formal all the time, so in my mind getting the best kilt you can is the important thing.

I've used the firm (though not purchased a complete 'set' outfit from them). They've got a shop near to the British Museum in London and the staff there are well-informed and courteous. The goods are generally up to scratch IMO.
I'd phone them and talk though what you want and haggle for a 'package' price, rather than accepting the 'standard offer' 4 yard.
I'd agree that you should avoid the Saxony stuff like the plague.
Best regards
