A_hay sporran & Cavscout belt and strap
So quite awhile back I lamented the fact that IF I indeeed decide to indulge myself and get a tank (i'm in on the xmarks tartan) what would I wear with it???
Mr. AlanH was kind enough to take some time and actually give me a ton of suggestions and links to what he thought would make cool accessories for a kilt wearing woman. One of the things he gave me a link to was something called a hip purse
That particular purse was a bit too girly for me, but it really got me thinking. Could I substitute a leather ammo pouch for a sporran? Hrmmmmm. Than I got it in me to ask Cavscout if he might be able to fashion something custom? He thought about it, and then passed some of my ideas on to A_HAy.
A_Hay seemed to intuitively know what I was looking for. He proposed the idea of a cross between a retangular ladies clutch purse, and a familiar sporran.
So here is my Scottish neo-sporran, with Welsh dragon insignia, hand crafted by an American, while stationed in Germany. And of course we can't forget it's perfectly paired up with a Cavscout custom belt and sporran strap. Does it get any better than that????
Here's a pic that Cavscout took of the combo
I think the whole thing is superb! I'll post pics of it being worn and a proper review very soon.
Thanks Tom (A-Hay!), for creating something entirely new just for me. Thanks AlanH for the inspiration. And a really, really big thanks goes out to Steve (Cavscout) for facilitating the whole thing. You guys should know how much I appreciate your efforts.

They look great! Not to be insulting to the ladies out there, but I think sporrans look odd on the ladies. This set will look wonderful.

I was going to post a pic of the new belt I made tonight, but now I don't think so. (bowing deeply and backing out of the room)
Steve...do you carve the knots or do you use a roller/embosser?

Cloves, that is really nice looking and would go well with any Kilt!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Bill, it is an embosser. The risk of mucking up a 50" piece of leather because of one slip is too great with my attention span... hey look...lint

Cloves that is very creative indeed and very beautiful. I truly think that the interaction and creativity of Xmarks is moving kilt wearing forward in great new ways.
