Piccies '0 Falkirk #3

Last set of piccies from Falkirk.

I love the name of this street!



Statue of the Royal Lion of Scotland dated 1817.



Well we did find another kiltie! Many war memorials in Scotland have kilted figures and Falkirk is no exception to this.



But one guarding his wounded comrade is less common.



St Francis Xavier RC Church. Surprisingly I found the frontage quite attractive.

Interestingly coloured cupola.

did you happen to get the text on the war memorial? I would assume that is for the South African (Boer) War, since the one Jock is armed with a Lee-Metford Rifle and is wearing a slouch hat.

I wouldn't say knack Alex - if the interesting things weren't there in the first place it would be hard to manufacture them! They are there for everyone to find.

Alas I must confess I didn't Todd. I assumed it was the Great War as it was that which inspired the bulk of war memorials to be erected. I bow to your knowledge of the rifle and the uniform, I was just so interested in finding a kilted statue that I didn't think about further investigation.

I did a quick search to see what I could find out and just came acroos some pictures that look earily familiar. McClef either someone nicked your picts, or you go by a different nom de plume on an online gallery! Alex has some stiff competition with photo tours. Keep up the good work.
