    all wooden sgian??

I seem to recall somebody posting something about an all wooden sgian awhile back. Even the blade portion was wooden.
I've tried the search function but can't find what I'm looking for.
Does it seem at all familar to anybody??

I've seen all plastic sgians, where the handle and "sheath" are one piece, and bottle opener sgians, but don't recall any all wood.

    Best regards,

    Jake

Cloves, I think Matt offers an "imitation sgian dubh" that is all one piece. Check out the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop. Sorry I have not yet figured out how to insert a link on this forum.

i'm sure it was here I saw it...i think.
There was no sheath that I remember, just the wood. It looked like those wooden practice tantos or suburitos they use in akido.
No very practical in the bladed weapon sense...but very beautiful as I recall. Nicely stained wood grain and such.

    cloves,

I remember it. Sadly I don't remember which forum member made it. He made a beautiful handle and then shaped a wooden blade from the rest of one solid piece of wood. Do you need one?

    Cheers

Do I need one...well no, but do I want one....well that's a different matter entirely. LOL

    possible

I made a full-on sword out of wood, once. It was quite beautiful. Seems like an all-wood sgian would be a fun project.

I used to make knifes out of wood when I was bored and had free time. Any idea on the wood and design you want it in? I might be able to whittle ya one up.
