PHILLY Kilt Night April 6th
Here's my "kilt night email" that I sent to customers (and all the info you'll need):
St. Patty’s day has just past (yes, we survived the late nights and rush kilt
orders) and it already seems like ages ago since we’ve been out to see some
good Celtic music! Are YOU ready for another kilt night? Kelly and I SURE
ARE! Tartan Day is coming up (go to http://www.tartanday.org/ for more info) on April 6th… what better reason to wear your kilt!?!?!
This time, we’re going to host the evening at the The Shanachie Pub and
Restaurant in Ambler PA. It’s owned by Gerry Timlin (1/2 of the local Irish
band “Timlin & Kane”) and is a FANTASTIC spot to get some great food and a
pint or two (or three…). It’s also a great spot to see Celtic bands.
If you’d like to come out, here’s the info you’ll need:
Who:
YOU AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW who has a kilt or likes hanging out with men (and women) IN kilts. As with EVERY kilt night celebration, wearing a kilt is
HIGHLY ENCOURAGED, but not necessary to enjoy the evening.
What:
Kilt Night with the traditional Celtic band, “Blarney”. To check them out, you
can go to their website at: http://www.blarneymusic.com/ but TURN YOUR
SPEAKERS DOWN first. They have music on their site and it scared the *you
know what* out of me when I went onto their site since I had my speak volume turned up.
When:
Friday, April 6th… Band starts at 9 PM
If you’d like to make dinner reservations BEFORE the band starts (which I
highly recommend if you haven’t eaten there yet), you might consider making
them for 8 PM or earlier. Also, let them know you’re with USA Kilts when you
call the reservation in and ask to be seated near the stage… we don’t get
anything out of it, but they will try to seat us “kilt wearers” near each other.
Where:
The Shanachie Pub and Restaurant
111 East Butler Avenue
Ambler, PA 19002
Phone: 215.283.4887
Email: info@shanachiepub.com
Why:
It’s tartan day and we haven’t had an “official” kilt night for over a month!
How:
By land, sea, or air… just make it there for the 6th of April!
Kelly and I hope to see you all there.

I plan on being there and have invited a few 'kilt curious' friends to hopefully join us.
Unfortunately the dear wife can not make it - of course I did fail to mention that the Shanachie Pub is around the corner from a few colleges, and you know how those young impressionable gals are when it comes to guys in kilts :o

Thanks to the 15 people who came out (admitedly, most of them aren't on this board). It was a very good night! Some of us brought in bagpipes (and played them with the band), some got up to sing and play the Bodhran with the band, some just shouted requests and some were asked to sing Finnegan's Wake after a few pints of "liquid courage" and DIDN't forget the words this time (ok... the last one is me)!
BMacKay... where were YOU!?!
It really was a good time, guys. Glad to have you all out. Next one's in a month here in P-ville after the festival!

Sorry we missed you guys Rocky - wife went down hard yesterday with a stomach flu and in my infinite wisdom (ie married long enough to know better) decided to stay home.
Sounds like we missed a great time - so where are the pictures anyway?

yeah... pictures.... in OUR infinite wisdom, no one brought a camera.
F16warbird (Joe) brought it up while we were eating dinner. I had thought about it, but it completely slipped my mind.
I think Jim the piper (from Lancaster) stayed at his friend's house in P-Ville last night. I asked him to stop by the shop today and belt out a few tunes on the pipes in front of the shop. We'll see if he comes in... he said he'd be here around 1 or 2.
