Portsmouth, NH Tartan Day Kilt Night
Here are a few piccies from our Kilt Night in Portsmouth last Friday night. Felt a little badly that no XMTS members attended BUT I had a great time with my kids. Maybe we should call this the "Scott Rabble Kilt Night".
From left to right, me, Jon (my son), Ali (my daughter) and her boyfriend, Pat. I'm wearing cavscouts Gordan Modern (Rocky's USA Kilts) with ebay sporran (yes, it made it through customs - $e@l skin hanging from cavscout made sporran belt - Thanks Steve) and sash. Jon's wearing KiltedTaper's olive UK mocker with hair sporran. Ali wearing my Scott Green Modern (Sportkilt) with sash. Pat in Scott Hunting Brown Modern (Celtic Crofts) with fly plaid and rabbit sporran. Here's the crew:
Here's a another pic of the same four. We drank the drink Dirk Skene mentioned in in his recent "Free beer" thread (Half pint of Guinness, drop a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream, CHUG). Of course, we had to drink the first half of the pint before we could drop the shot. SO TASTY and YES it does give an almost immediate BUZZ!!
The evening was made more enjoyable by Piper Joe(wearing a Robertson Tank, dark green PC and Robertson fly plaid) and Barman Chris (BlackWatch). Joe gave us a private song and explained the pipes and showed us how they are tuned. Chris sang several Irish favorites (we were at Molly Malone's Irish Pub and Restaurant after all). Everyone enjoyed their efforts.
Here's the last of my kids. If you've never partied with your adult children, I highly recommend it. We had a blast.
Here the required "Pleats" shot.
We were approached by another celebrant who insisted we take a picture together. He identified himself as "Italian" (Mike) but is a great admirer of the kilt. I gave him an XMTS card (Thanks Kilted Hiker) and told him to look for his pic, so I have no choice but to post this one.
Finally, walking back to the parking garage. I have to admit, my son had to drive home, (I had TOO good a time).
Hope you enjoy the pics. We'll have to try again this summer. My first Kilt Night and it was the BOMB.
