For any newbies who are nervous about wearing a kilt in public...
I just put my kilt-wearing to the ultimate test.
Karen and I just got back to our hotel in Las Vegas after spending the day at the Laughlin River Run bike rally. Harleys everywhere you looked, and hundreds of vendor tents set up in the various casino parking lots.
I was wearing a black Original Utilikilt and a black t-shirt. For the most part I didn't notice any reaction from people, but I did get a few "wow, cool kilt" comments.
So, if I can wear a kilt around a bunch of bikers, you newbies to kilting shouldn't worry about wearing yours in public.

It's not the "different" people you have to be worried about wearing your kilt around...it's everybody who thinks we should all look the same.

heh...if you want the ultimate test, wear a saffron kilt into a horde of teenagers without their parents in sight. That will put most any kiltie's mettle to the test!

Brilliant! Though I'd agree with others here that a black kilt, especially a UK with its studs on the front, would be a lot easier look to carry off successfully at a bike rally than would a garish tartan or a saffron.

Bikers tend to like black anyway
I think that Gregory has summed it up well.
