Finished beaver sporran Have Questions

Just finished new fur sporran. It is made from beaver with an elk skin gusset.

Now I have some questions. Is a full fur sporran suitable for dress without the mask?

How about with the Clan Badge?

I will be making a flap with a PC plate

for this as it has a convertible flap and I see these advertised as dress.

I don't have tassels for it yet but have a quanity of horse hair in brown and black to make them out of, what do you think of this type of tassel for this sporran.

I mentioned that it had a convertible flap, It also has a contvertible front.

In the works is a front for it from elk skin to match the gusset and an elk skin flap with siver thistle.

Wow! what a great looking sporran! If you think you can't afford coming to this site when you're making stuff yourself think of the poor slobs like me who have to buy it all. Since joining, I've been continually amazed at the talent on X-Marks!

Looks fabulous. I've got two beaver pelts in my freezer just waiting for me to have some free time.

I like the look of the flap with the clan crest. I'd not hesitate to use that in even the most formal setting.

Where did you obtain the thistle flap plate, if you dont mind my asking?

Beautiful job on that convertible flap. simple, but elegant. I've been working on a hair-on deer hide sporran, and the way the hairs run every which way is driving me nuts! Beaver looks much more forgiving.

Don't have the plate yet. Have been looking for one that is affordable. Found a place in the UK that will sell, but it will be over $100 including shipping. Will probably have to buy a cheapy **** model and use it for parts.

If anyone knows where I can fet one for a reasonable price please let me know

That's a really nice sporran. It appears that you have provided ample hand room with the gussets, which is a rarity in sporrans.

With the clan badge, it'll go to any formal function. Without, it would look great with a tee shirt and boots. In fact, it doesn't even need the badge for formal wear.

Heck, you've done it all.

I immediately started with the x-kilt, and have since made a belt.
Not from this site, but inspired by my return to craftiness was a dress for my wife (matching the kilt), and a leather tricorn pirate hat, belts for our two boys, and constant thoughts of the next kilt.
I also looked at some knitting patterns for hose.

Can....not.....afford.....
