Etiology of the Jones
Sorry in case this was covered, but where does the concept of "the jones" come from? I definitely know it as a verb and a noun, but can anyone (or everyone) fill in the blank here?

It comes from drug slang. One who is desperate for a drug they are addicted to is said to be "on a Jones," though I couldn't tell you why.

i believe it was originally a term for drug addicts. as in " I'm jonesin for my fix"
