Brighton Heart Support Trust charity walk.
This 5 mile walk, to raise funds for the Heart Support Trust at Brighton Hospital, took place along the Brighton and Hove seafront promenade in pretty atrocious weather on Sunday morning. 5 miles is not far to walk, but most of those taking part have undergone some form of heart operation - by-passes, that sort of thing - and that is far enough for them. Since it was pouring with rain most of the time and blowing half a gale I did not take my camera, so I regret no photos to show you.
I was walking (kilted of course) in support of an old friend, Tony, who had a heart by-pass fitted at the hospital (he too was kilted). We were joined by my pal Jim from Surrey (naturally he was kilted). The organisers would be surprised to see the three of us in kilts (or so we thought, because on previous walks for the Charity there had been just Tony and myself wearing them). However, just as we set off, we spied another walker in the kilt and the four of us kept together for the entire walk. Our new friend (Derek from Peacehaven with, I think he said, seven kilts to his name) is not too experienced with the Internet, but he has lurked here at X Marks a few times, and promised to pay visits more frequently in the future.
Derek told me he also recognised me from a number of websites (!!) and remembered me from an article on me which appeared in the Brighton Argus newspaper three years ago - Link: http://www.imff.net/php/useralbums/album04
When the four of us arrived at the finish point for the walk, we were asked to pose for photos alongside the Charity's banner. I doubt we will see the results of them, but they might get into a hospital newsletter of some sort.

Photos or not, good for you Hamish. My sister just went in for an operation on her heart, and she has at least one more to go, I am sure that 5kms would be more than enough for her.
If you really want to know just how far you have traveled on the internet, do a google search for yourself, you might be surprised.
If you are reading this Derek, hello.
