whoops!...forgot this...
From Clun Gunn...
This year we have made some drastic changes to the schedule. In order to better highlight the Clans that have are the backbone of any Scottish event (and to get away from the noonday heat of Saturday) we have moved the Opening Ceremonies to Friday night. In fact Friday night has been turned into a Clan centered event.
The evening starts with the Howdy BBQ. It’s catered by David’s BBQ, some of the best in this area.
The opening parade has been replaced by a “Calling of the Clans”. This is something entirely new to the TSF & HG. We have updated the Clan Night at TSF website with a provisional time line for Friday night. There is also an aerial view of the venue, to give you a rough idea of where the assembly points for the cans are. There will be plenty of volunteers to help everyone get sorted to the right spot. All the clan leaders have been sent detailed information.
After the calling there will be a “real” Ceilidh at the Glencoe tent (the one in the middle of the clan area). This is NOT a sit and listen deal, this will be a do it “your” self Ceilidh. Anyone that wants to is welcome to sing, play, recite a poem (keep it clean,,,there will be wee ones about) tell stories, (Scottish is good, but not required) There may be some of the Gaelic singers there,,we might get them to teach us some simple songs in the mother tongue. We know several of the Scottish Country Dance folks are planning to come…so there will be dancing. (They just love to teach new comers,,get up and join in). There are a couple of the musicians that have said they will drop by and help keep things moving. (No,,You Do Not Get To Sit And Just Listen) Oor Wee Cathie from orr the Sea from Scotland will be here. She plays a mean keyboard,,so there will be accompaniment for sing-a-long, or anyone that needs a little backup. A downloadable flyer has been added to the Clan Night site that you can print and send out, or forward to your contacts as an attachement.
We have updated the Clan Night at TSF website.

That event is not so far away for me if I plan a weekend around it. Maybe next year I can hook up & meet the DFW gang.
