Folks:

I have received this book and begun to read it. I would provide a somewhat detailed discussion of the themes and topics, but I fear that such an action would only result in a ruthless and justified removal of this post for violating the rules in re: discussion of politics.

It is, however, GMF at his curmudgeonly best.

I think that man could write about the phone book and make it interesting.

Ayup----George McDonald Fraser, and you don't get much more Scots than that as a name, do you? Famous for his Flashman books, author of numerous novels, "Light" is his curmudgeonly autobiography and wail against modernism. You can see the young man from "Quartered Safe Out Here" peeping through the old man's eyes, and not liking what he sees.
