    I Thought it looked Easy!

    Well it isn't.
My friend Will, has been showing me the ropes of Highland Events. What a Blast. But it certainly isnt easy. Weight for distance: foot work, upper body, spin release foot work position etc, etc, etc,
Hammer: Extend spin, ouch spin, ugh. What a blast...
I have not tried the Caber yet. But this is a blast!
this is gonna be a great Summer!

    Is this gonna hurt?

Oh Yea, it is pouring Rain! Got to love it.

    Hey Brandy,
Lots of girls throw! And some of them look damn fine doing it, let me tell you. I mean, that's what I hear, not that I've ever noticed. To busy throwing myself to notice, you see....

    Richland,
It is a blast isn't it? I've been competing for a few years now, and still proudly defend last place at all the games, but I have a ball doing it, and it's good seeing old friends again.
And just wait until you turn your first caber in competition. You'll want to yell "I'm the king of the world" like that twerp in "Titanic". Only you'll look cooler because you're in a kilt.

Tim C and I did a workout ylast eve at the Stanford hammer field. it was a rotten workout for us...we busted some gear and neither of us could do diddly with the 28 lb weight for distance....though I did turn our practice caber 3 x out of 4 tries, and then twice more after Tim left.

HOWEVER, a very nice young lady was working on collegiate/olympic hammer in the hammer cage while we were practicing.

My eyes about popped out when she uncorked one. Ditto for Tim. This young ladies name is Sara Hopper and she was 3rd in the NCAA championship last year...ranked 5th in the USA (currently 15th 'cause she's been applying herself to her job and not practicing as much) and is currently working up to the nationals and next years Olympic Trials. Her pesonal best in the hammer is 211 feet anc change.

Power, speed and balance? Ohhhhh, yeah. It was a joy to watch. she was the nicest person you could imagine...smart, cute, friendly and really sweet. AND...she kicks @22 in the hammer cage.

I think Tim and I talked her into coming out for the Campbell Games.
