Stag handle Sgian Dubh
First things first - Customer Service - Outstanding!!
I had sent Rocky an email with some typical PITA questions. He answered promptly and professionally. One question was regarding the stag handle Sgian Dubh.
Because of prevailing laws 'round here, I won't be wearing one normally. Because I have been involved in law-enforcement related activities, I know that a replica non-sharp aluminum blade will land your hocks in just as much hot water as a razor sharp carbon steel blade.
So I stay away form ornamental knives and swords. You have to handle them as responsibly as a real one, and they ain't real. I wanted a real Sgian dubh in my collection and for those rare times when I would wear one.
Most of the time I won't have any accessory of the sort or will be going with some sort of Sgian "don't".
Rocky assured me that the Sgian was not ornamental. Now in my experience when you have a guy from anywhere near Philly, who is totally clueless when it comes to blades, and is called Rocky - proceed with caution. Most likely some level of boxer.
Despite the best of intentions, this blade is of the "steel" one finds at a flea market vendor who got his stuff from the infomercial @ 0213 dark thirty. Point is sharp, but don't try to sharpen the blade one look and I knew not to waste my time. I am known as the guy who hardly ever has any hair on his fore arms that everyone gets to sharpen their knives.
The handle is a beauty, for a left hander. The flat side and jimping on the blade mean that a right hander would either wear the thing flat side out, or draw it with his thumb on the "blade" .
For a left hander it would come out round side to the palm, thumb on the jimping.
Oh well, it is pretty - but left handed and an ornamental blade - not going in my collection. Looks like I will have some store credit when I order my made to measure from Rocky ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
If you are looking for an ornament only, beautiful stag handle for the money.
Left handed dress clam opener? right on! this is your piece.
Sgian Dubh that could be sharpened enough to cut a Haggis? pass on this one.
Fast response and strong customer service - USA KILTS. ordered Wednesday mid-day and have it in my hand less than 48 hours later.
Sorry Rocky, gonna have to send this one back. But the hose and flash that came with it are sweet. And a big thank you for your jones-defeating speedy service. I will be ordering again (taking advantage of that store credit for this return, too )

Follow up ....
Rocky's RMA response was fast, courteous, and professional. My email to him was answered like DARN FAST.
This newbie can recommend USA kilts to other noobs without reservation. And like I said, if your sgian does not have to be sharpened, don't think you will find prettier stag at that price.
