A jones of a different color.

I am a rabid Harry Potter fan. I even write fanfic. In exactly two weeks I will have the final book in my hands. I am really jonesing hard. I paid in advance for the "guaranteed in your hands on the release date" service from Barnes and Noble. If the book doesn't show up on time, I will find out who at B&N or whatever shipping company they use is responsible and superglue their lips to a jumbo jet. Then I'll think about what really needs to be done to punish them.

As scarce as I have been on the forum lately, I'm going to be getting more so. Delivery happens on the 21st. On the 19th, I am going to cease opening web pages, turning on TV or radio, or even answering phone calls from anyone who has not been briefed that any spoilers sent my direction will be met with everlasting vengeance. I will not be emerging until the 22nd or 23rd, depending on how long it takes me to read through the book at least twice.

    McMurdo,

Do y'all get the real, English edition in Canada? With sherbet lemons, and cars that have boots?

I've reached the point of not caring to read the silly US edition. Interestingly enough, some 12-year-olds agree with me.

Mercan on tv and magazines, real English in books, except, of course, French versions or Mercan imports.

It's real fun re-educating computer spell checks. Especially the Mac trap, the Canadian flag gives you French Canadian spelling until you put in the Stars and Stripes, the Union Jack gives you European links to everything. It gets weird but I digress....

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who gifted me with the first six HP audiobooks- The Stephen Fry UK version. I enjoy reading my Scholastic American versions, but the Stephen Fry audiobooks are some of the most played audiobooks that I have. I greatly prefer the UK versions, as they were the way the book was written, not what some editor decided to do to them to insult America's intelligence.

As much as I like Stephen Fry, I like the Jim Dial version better.

I'm the moderator of the Ravenclaw community on LiveJournal. And, if I may blow my own horn for a moment longer, if we're going to talk about fanfic, may I show you mine?

I have the set in audio book form. I like that my wife and I can listen together. American version I guess. I'll be pre-ordering next Friday.
I've been litening to them all over again to get myself refreshed.
