Scotland on the Horizon!
It has been over 7 months since my wife gave me a Christmas Present of a trip to Scotland, and now it is just 6 more days of waiting until we fly, next Saturday!
This is as bad a waiting for a Kilt!.
We arrive in Glasgow on the 28th and take a train to Dumfries, arriving in the afternoon to stay a Ferintosh for 3 nights. Robertson is trying to organize a Kilt Night for the 28th, so anyone in the area that can make it would be welcome, I'm sure.
Tuesday we go back to Glasgow to join the Tour. Wednesday it's off to Loch Ness and Inverness. Thursday down to Edinburgh with a few stops along the way. Friday we have the afternoon off and then the MILITARY TATTOO in the evening. (Sigh) Saturday fly back to Frankfurt and reality.
Thinking about what to wear (Kilts of course!)
Will fly Frankfurt-London-Glasgow-Dumfries in my Auld Lang Syne Grey.
I'm also taking my Black Argyll jacket for any semi-formal events like dinner. It will go with my 8-yard Hay Modern Kilt. Also taking my PV Ancient Hay for day wear. And one pair of khaki p**ts just in case.
I don't plan on buying any more kilts. The prices are probably better over the internet from some of our trusted kiltmakers, but there I'll maybe get some new hose. I'll look at the merchandise along the Royal Mile just to see it first hand, but the dollar/pound rate is really bad now.
I just tell myself the sun will come up and go down just a few more times and then the adventure begins. Watched The Open on TV just to get a feel for it tonight.
Cheers
Tom

My son is over there now. He is having a relatively good time except for some comments about his camo kilt and that the exchange rate for dollars is tough and that he has a hard time understanding some of his new relatives especially one Glasweigian....but, I think alcohol may have been involved!! He said there is all kind of interesting stuff to see and do but the weather has been been chilly.
Have a good trip and we can all compare pictures when he comes home.

Whoo Hoo! Sounds like an excellent trip. If you're coming from Germany then it'll be a bit expensive Euro vs. Pound but enjoy! I'm very envious that you're attending the Tattoo. Take LOTS of pics.
Have fun.

Let's hope this good spell of warm sunny weather lasts for your trip. Edinburgh should be getting busier for the Festival by then.

Tom,
In case I don't see you in the PX before you go, have a severely great time. Please take lots and lots of photos and post them as soon as possible. I am especially jealous of the TATTOO experience, high on my must-do-that-one-day list.
Cheers and Slante,
Joe
