Hey! You! Yes, You... the Squid!
So, I've heard from a couple of different kilt vendors that they haven't received enough interest to justify a run of PV in US Navy (Edzell) tartan. So I'm wondering if we can't put together enough people here, if we put our minds to it.
What vendor would you prefer? Jerry at Stillwater, or Rocky at USA? For that matter, I wonder if we could talk Jerry into doing a wool box-pleat, like he has for the leathernecks?
Hmm. I should write each of them, and ask how many orders would be "enough." In the mean time, if you're interested, chime in here? Thanks!

I would _love_ to have a USA Kilt in Edzell. Sign me up for one!
Nothing against Stillwater - I have no experience with their products but I do with USAK, and I think Rocky does great work.

Well, I sent email to Rocky and Jerry. Rocky says he'd need 20 orders to be able to do a run, and Jerry didn't give a specific number, just said people should email him so he can gague interest. So, if we can find 18 more guys....

Just a thought, but the subject for this thread doesn't exactly accurately describe your intent. It may be that starting a new thread with a more descriptive title may help. Just a thought...

I emailed Jerry already. There has to be more squids out there. Maybe just not enough ready for the kilt.
Still anybody who walks the gut in Naples should be OK in a kilt. IMHO
let us hope.

Being ex-Navy, I might be interested, but not right now. I have other tartans on my list right now.

I would wear it, if the actual squids in the crowd would not ostracize me for it.
In my case, I'd be tipping the bonnet to my uncle. He went into the Reserve circa 1938, flew off baby flattops in the Atlantic, kept flying for a good long time, and retired as a captain.

If you're a bubblehead, I'd think you'd be more interested in the USN Polaris Tartan.

Shows what I know - I don't even know what the squid reference meant. Sorry for my ignorance...
And in my case I'm honoring my Dad who was on the USS Hugh W Hadley, a Sumner-class destroyer, off of Okinawa on May 11, 1945. They fought off kamikazes for a couple of hours until 10 attacked at once. Ship was hit a couple of times but did not sink. Fascinating story, actually, and one of many untold from that war. My wife and I have been going to the Hadley reunions for the past 10 years - ever since I found out about them. And it would be great to have a kilt in Edzell for the next one.
