As some of you may know from my other posts, I lost 50 lbs last year, (Send me a pm and I'll be happy to tell you how,) and having done so, I have a fair amount of clothing that no longer fits. (My one tank not included.) I recently had an older suit taken in, but when I brought one of my newer sport coats to the tailor, he said he would do it only if I really liked the sport coat, because it would be $80 to basically re-build the coat. It occurred to me this morning that it would be worth $80 plus to renovate some of them to kilt jackets, (considering the cost of a new one.) I'm thinking argyles, one navy, one black. I've been looking at the pictures at the Tartan Museum and USA Kilts, but can't tell about the venting. Is there a specific detail here for an argyle? Double, Single? What about the front pockets, they appear to have pocket flaps, not sure if my jackets do or not. (I'm at work.) Could they be added from the material taken from the bottom? If they do exist would they need to be raised? Does anyone have a pattern for such a jacket? My tailor is Vietnamese so I may need a lot of help explaining what it is I want him to do. I realize these are a lot of questions, but would like some feed back as to whether or not this is feasible.
Thanks,
David
