    Without crying Freedom...

    ... Maybe we can just remember that William Wallace was executed on this day 705 years ago (in 1302).

    He didn't wear a kilt. I don't want to stir up political turmoil.
    But he was a pretty cool guy by all accounts.

    In his memory, I wore my Wallace kilt with black shirt and hose.

    Tonight, I'll watch Braveheart (AFTER the kids are asleep).

    Some things go way beyond ethnicity time period, & politics. Wallace was a shining example to humanity as a whole. Even better that he was a Scot

    More accurately, 23 August 1305, which was 702 years ago.

    The plaque at Smithfield, shown in McMurdo's post, will support this date.

    He's right. 7 years after the famous battles.
    (though the movie makes it seem like a few months).


    Now, if you want to get REALLY specific, the matter gets into calender shifts and all that. But, such is not really THAT big of a deal. The day he was hung, drawn, and quartered was recognized as Aug. 23.
