Look, Mommy. He's wearing a...
...Cowboy hat!
Actually it was an Australian "outback" hat.
The kid never noticed the kilt at all.

Better than the one I rean across in the grocery store last weekend. Just after we passed each other he asked, "Mommy, why is that man wearing a skirt?" I only heard part of her answer, "It's not a skirt, it's........" I can only assume that she set him right

That's great. I haven't heart that comment before, and I wear a cowboy hat with my kilt every now and then.

When I lived in NYC, I would sometimes wear my Australian drover's hat, and it seemed like every time I did, someone would ask, "So, where you from?"
I'm sure I only reinforced the stereotype when I admitted being from Arizona.

Great stuff, those outback hats are cool, I lost one in Daytona beach about 10 years ago.

Don't usually get asked much about the Outback drover hat. Maybe because Canada is a bit more kilt aware, I'm usually told it clashes with my kilt.
People seem to like my Outback Safari hat with my kilt, very Sir Sean.

something similar happened to me here in India two weekends ago. I was at a local theme park wearing a Australian type hat. I drew an immense crowd who wanted their picture taken with an American cowboy!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I'm not sure how to take that comment. I just looked up this picture of Billy the Kid on Wikipedia, and he's looks uh.... off.
I would have definitely hated to look like him back in the day, for fear of getting arrested. But I guess it would have been nice for when I was trying to scare someone.
