    Formal Dinner

So, this morning, Red_Raven_Studios tells me that sometime in November we are going to a "tuxedo" dinner for Habitat for Humanities. I guess this pay day I'll order an Eton Jacket from Uniformalwearhouse. With luck we'll be able to alter it before then.

What else do I need to go with a Prince Charlie?

White shirt, bow tie, dress sporran, black hose, flashes.

    What else?

OK you might want to look into cuff links also, and those little studs to replace the buttons on the tuxedo shirt, if you want. You might also look for a sgian dubh. That is about all I can think of. Make sure to get pictures of the event if you can.

    Thanks!

I have a sgian dubh (a cheap one) and I have a blade on the way so I can do a custom sgian before then.

    Cool
I too have a cheap dress sgian that I am hoping to replace before Burns' night next year, if I can't get it then my cheap ebay one will do but I would just love a Rab Gordon by then.

    Next question.

    Vest or no vest?

    If I wear a vest, I don't need a dress belt, right?

for a formal dinner I would go with a waistcoat, however I do have a Prince Charlie so that is why, but no I do not wear my dress belt with the waistcoat, so if it were me it would be jacket and waistcoat, and no belt. The real problem is that a dress belt pushes out the bottom of the waistcoat and does not look that attractive at all.

I rather prefer the look of the waistcoat, as well. I think that's the way I'll go. I don't currently own a dress belt/buckle. So I can buy a dress belt/buckle, or spend roughly the same amount of money buying a waistcoat.

Yes that is right, I spent $50 on my dress buckle and $50 on my dress belt, today I picked up an Argyle and waistcoat, if I were to buy the waistcoat alone it would have been $110. So I say go with the option you like, as they will cost you the same.

I would go for a waistcoat, the 3 button one, too. You can then forgo the dress belt.If you can, try and get the waist coat half to one inch longer(not any longer though) than you think you need,it will help hide the join between the kilt top and waistcoat and thus avoid the unsightly sight of your shirt poking out.

How about shoes? You do not need those awful ghillie brogues, a well polished pair of black shoes will do nicely.Have fun.

I had decided on black dress shoes instead of ghillies, if only because of the outrageous price of ghillies.
