    Howdy from MI

I've been enjoying the many informative posts here at XMarks. There is a great deal of knowledge here.
    For intro:
Well, I was born in Houston, TX and just recently relocated to the Detroit, MI area for my wife's company. I'm not ashamed to admit that she wears the pants in the family. However, this may just be a stepping-stone for her career on the way to the west coast.
I've not officially joined the kilted ranks yet. I've been working on the Mrs. for about 4+ years now to get a kilt. She's been a little less than cooperative. Recently she has told me that if I wait until after Christmas my patience will have finally paid off and I will have the green light. I know her thinking here. She's hoping that once I've waited I'll no longer be interested. 4 years is a long time to wait and couple more months isn't going to put me off. Besides, after learning my true waist size, it'll give me a little more time to get back to my old self. I'll just bide my anticipation by acquiring accessories.
As for a first tartan/style, I'm still undecided. I've been having a little trouble tracing roots. I may have to go with what your gut tells you sort of thing, or a state/district.
    Eagerly waiting,
    Keith

Keith, welcome to the forum. Enjoy! Clearly you are a man with patience. I hope in time your patience will be rewarded. When you become kilted you will enjoy it all the more.

Welcome Keith! I suggest a good initial investment for you is to acquire Matt Newsome’s book, ‘Patented Advice for First Time Kilt Wearers.’ You will find information there to help you in your consideration in selecting a tartan. Happy hunting!

Another from Saginaw! Hey, I got an idea. How about if a bunch of us from the area (Saginaw to Detroit?) get together some time. Yea, we could all wear kilts. Yea, and we could do it at night...wait a minute...we could call it a KILT NIGHT!!! Yea, no one has thought of that yet, right? Anyway, a big welcome to the best forum on the net.

Welcome from the Upper Peninsula. I bet you can't wait until after Christmas! Maybe she will surprise you and give you money for a kilt or get you one. If not, then you will just have to do that yourself!

    DALE.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!
