Hmmm, I Wonder...
Today I was wearing my black Utilikilt, beige hose, and I had on a jacket with a dress shirt underneath. I stopped at Menard's to buy something I needed, and the young clerk started with the a question, "So what's the occasion?" I replied, "You don't need an occasion to wear a kilt!" She started to stammer, and try to "get out of that situation, like she had said the wrong thing. I just piped up (Scottish pun), with, "You don't need an occasion to be comfortable."
I showed her the kilt, its pockets and explained the difference between a tartan kilt and this plain one. Then she said, after I showed her all the pockets, "Don't the Scottish kilts have a pocket in the front?" Ahh, she knew that much, but wasn't quite sure about it. So then I explained it was a sporran and told her what they were like. By then another customer came up to check out, and she started to finish up my order. While I was signing for my credit card use, she said, "Hmmm, I wonder what my fiance would look like in a kilt?!" I said, "You better get him one and see!" Then it was time to see. I bet she tells him about them!
DALE.
You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I saw a kilted fellow walking down Washington Street near Trinity Motors today in Marquette. I didn't get a good look at him though. I dropped off my wife at home and went down Washington again on my way to a call that I had to make, but the guy was already gone.

Ok, so the girl saying "I wonder..." has me thinking of a new business plan. ANy kiltmakers listen up! Loan out kilts. For free. Saturate the market with samples. Then the girlfriends will see how their boyfriends look in a kilt. And we all know they'll love the look, so they'll be sure he gets one. And if my female friends' shoe addictions are any indication, they won't be turned off by the price of the kilt!
And even guys uncomfortable wearing something other than pants won't be able complain or avoid it; the girlfriends will make sure of that.

And then the wait for a kilt will go from 8 weeks to 16. 9 months for a Newsome Box.
SWK will be so busy that you'll have to wait 3 days instead of 2 for your kilt to arrive.
careful what you wish for...

Your post showed 12:01 a.m., so I didn't know if that was today (Saturday) or (Friday). Was it a tartan kilt or a black one?
I know one other kiltie in Marquette, and that would be Nick's, from this forums, brother.

I've encountered this question a number of times and I've used the same response. I guess some people view a kilt as some sort of costume, and expect there to be a reason for wearing it. I usually add that I wear it all the time. It's all part of the fun.
Cheers!

It was Friday, and he had long hair and was wearing a tartan kilt, short socks, and carrying a duffel bag.
So, that's possibly one more for the rolls of the kilted of Marquette.
