Stillwater Economy Disappointment
There was a package from Stillwater waiting for me when I got home today. Although it was my Christmas present, I wanted to open the package and see how the kilt looked, and more importantly, fit. I have to say, as soon as I took it out of the box I was disappointed.
The bottom edge of the kilt looks to have been cut and not the traditional selvedge as advertised. I took out my daughter's youth kilt which I had ordered earlier and compared the bottom edges. To my eyes there was a noticeable difference.

Not only does the bottom edge appear cut, it's not "straight".

I knew it would probably be a little long, but to get it at mid knee, I had to wear it so the top edge was 4 inches above my navel. Wearing it that way I could almost fit my hand, widthwise, between me and the kilt. Since I was between sizes, I had gone up in size as suggested on the sizing information page. Walking from my daughter's bedroom, where the full length mirror is, back to my bedroom the kilt had fallen down to my hips.
I'm really not sure what I should do.

Hopefully you haven't taken out the basting stiches. Why don't you simply send an email to Jerry at Stillwater and describe the problem and see about returning and/or exchanging it.
Cheers

Kent,
Stillwater has always done right by me. I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with them. I'd suggest you call/email them with your concerns and give them a chance to make things right. They really have been top notch everytime I've done business with them.

Sorry about the disappointment.
First, email Jerry. He's very quick to respond to email; and hopefully he'll work it out with you.
If you end up keeping this one--if it was a close-out or somthing; we can probably offer advice. It sounds as though you may need to hem it, in any case???

I ordered an Economy Wallace for my nephew earlier on this year, of course with the speed of Canada Post by the time it got here with my nephew being worried about his weight and doing something about it, it did not fit it was too big not much but enough. Well I got in touch with Jerry and he did everything possible to make sure I/We were happy with it. Give him a call, if he can he will make it right. As Panache said if you have not taken out the basting stitches, send it back and let Jerry know why it's coming back, I'm sure you will be happy with the attention Jerry gives you this time.
One of the real tests of whether I'll do business with someone again is how they treat situations like this, Jerry has shown me he will go above and beyond the call of duty to make his customers happy, if not the first time then the second time for sure.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have not taken the basting stiches out. I'm going to have my wife look at it when she gets home from work tonight. Then I'll email Jerry.

As others have said, be glad you ordered from Jerry. He will indeed go out of his way to make things right. SUPERB customer service (his sterling Ebay rating is well deserved and hard earned).
I'd simply contact him and let him know the issues, so that he can arrange to have everything rectified properly. No reason to waste your time trying to fix this yourself.
