Kilt night Austin, Texas
I would like to organize a kilt night for the new year, perhaps in January. We have a few Irish Pubs to choose from here in the city, and I would like to keep it in the downtown area. I was thinking about Mother Egan's, but am open to other ideas. Opal Devine's is close by.
So, please, anyone in the area (or visiting) please chime in and let's try to get something going! I am looking for any excuse to wear my kilt again (I'm hoping I'm getting a new one for Christmas!), and to meet other like-minded fellers.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

I'll be in town January 11th (after 7PM) but will be busy on the night of the 12th (Flatfoot 56 concert @ Red7 on 7th street). I won't be in town outside of that but don't plan it around me by any means.

You're the only one that's replied, and you're not from Austin! I thought there would be at least a few Austin kilties on here. I'm not sure how to proceed with organizing this thing. We have a Celtic shoppe here in Austin. Maybe I need to post notes there?

Confused won't make it on the 11th cause we'll be tilting a few pints back at the Tilted Kilt in Houston on the 10th...LOL...(just kidding)...I will be in Austin the 25th and 26th and I wouldn't mind making your acquaintence...Maybe it would be better to plan over a longer period of time to get a better response...Either way, shoot me a PM if you get any definates or would like to meet up.

Austin would easier to get to than Houston for me but this is a bad month. Things will probably keep me in town all month though I will be at Ft Hood for a week. Keep trying, one of these months I'll be able to make it.

Yeah. Looks like this Kilt night is in the crapper anyway. The Tilted Kilt, however, is the last place I would want to do it. To me the restaurant is simply cheapening the Highland spirit by parading scantily clad women around in a twisted version of the Highland dress. From what I've read, the man behind The Tilted Kilt has no interest in things Celtic, is not of Celtic blood, and is simply out to make a buck off of other's heritage.
Sorry. As you can tell, I'm not a big fan of the place.

It's just a Hooters with a better food and beer selection, don't think too much about it!

I know, I know. Sorry to be so dramatic. In Austin there are just too many other celtic (not necessarily Scottish) themed pubs to go to instead that are more like your local hole in the wall.
