Kilt at University
I was at a women's University Of Guelph basketball game yesterday and one of the male assistant coaches wore a heavy weight Black Watch kilt. What made it more unique was the salt and pepper knit knee socks matched to a heavy wool sweater. The U of Guelph has a Scottish Studies program that can be found on the internet and is supported in part by the Scotish Foundation in Toronto.
The team lost the game however. There were about 2,000 at the game and no reaction to the apparel as I could see.

Matching hose and shirt or sweater can usually yield a pleasant visual effect. In cold weather a natural colored sweater mated with hose of the same would look nice with almost any tartan.

Scottish studies, eh?
All these schools, Macalester, College of Wooster, Notre Dame, Simon Fraser, University of Strathclyde, Monmouth, University of California, Trinity, University of Calgary, Citadel....all of these schools have pipe bands, and here I am piping away by myself in Beloit.

University kilt
Thanks for the responses.
I am taking a guess that re: the tartan, the blue stands for water - the rivers and Great Lakes; the green for forests and plants, the redish for soil. The origins of the university was as an agricultural and vetinary college. A noteable grad was the late John Kenneth Galbraith economist emeritus of Harvard and KFK fame.
