The first time my dear friend got to talk to another dear friend, who happens to be quite Scottish he was very dismayed, because between phone interference and her extremely thick accent he was unable to understand most of what the woman of his dreams was saying. Happily he has adjusted to the accent and can understand about as much of what she say as anybody does. (she has a habit of speaking in gibberish, indecipherable even to her fellow Scots)
