    too long?

What can be done if a kilt is too long? I was thinking about a WPG kilt but I need an inch or so shorter drop than the shortest they offer. Can a kilt be shortened without hemming it?

What does it generally take, pricewise?

    Hem it !
Better a hemmed kilt than no kilt at all !
    What's the fabric ? What weight ?

I was considering a 22 ounce Black Watch from WPG

Dude, I don't know. I've got one, and that's a POWERFULLY thick weave.

I know. That's why I don't think hemming is the answer.

But let me ask you another question...do you find it too hot or too heavy?

I just hemmed three of our 16 oz band kilts, and you frankly can't tell they've been hemmed. But 22 oz is _way_ thicker. I wouldn't try to hem a 22 oz kilt.

You can't take it off the top without an enormous amount of reconstruction and reshaping of pleats.
