Your thoughts and prayers please... again

Please be thinking of /praying for my father-in-law over the next few weeks. He fell last night and fractured his hip in several places. They're doing surgery some time this afternoon or this evening to put in a rod... Then there will be 6-8 weeks of recovery and rehab...

My father in law goes by the name TV. His given name is Tommy.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Here's an update: The surgery went well. It was actually the top of his femur that was broken, not his hip. He now has a titanium rod in his femur that will set off metal detectors, get torn out by an MRI machine, and all sorts of fun stuff like that.

The good news is that the recovery time for this particular procedure is alot faster than we had thought. He will be back on his feet within a day or two, and he'll be done with physical therapy/rehab within a month.

TV is in our thoughts and prayers. My wife had that just 3 years ago---it is far from the worst kind of orthopedic rehabilitation, but none of them are fun. You can probably get an X-ray "ID" card from the orthopedic surgeon for airport convenience.

Here's a bit of trivia you may not hear right away (I didn't). Check with his orthopedist and dentist to see if he'll need medication when getting his teeth cleaned. I think it's just a mild antibiotic taken the morning of the dental exam. Our dentist usually calls in a single dose prescription before the exam.
