My stepson is going thru a divorce... his dog is a victim of the division.
So, we have agreed to take their purebred English Mastiff:

For those not familiar with the breed, they can grow quite large:

Though very intimidating (200lbs +), Zeus is a very docile, submissive & obedient boy, who was raised around babies & little kids.
Mary & I have a soft-spot for gentle-giant canines.
We pick him up Saturday. Our German Shepherd looks forward to the arrival of his adoptive big-little brother...

That is quite a pup!
I hope that everything works out for the best. For all involved.

Hope he doesn't eat the German Shepherd for lunch, He certainly is a big boy! However, he looks like a big cuddly guy for all that. Hope all goes well for all involved.

I love mastiffs. I had a bullmastiff, who was great with the babies. You didn't want to be near him right after he had been drinking water though (drool).
Best regards,
Jake

My late husband's dog when we got married was a Black Lab/Mastiff cross. They are a wonderful, gentle breed, but heaven help you if you don't train them well when they are pups. Luckily, Otis was very well trained; he never even pulled on the lead when we went for a walk. We called him the Hound of the Baskervilles - had a voice like the trump of doom. Best dog EVER.
Glad you could give the pup a good home when "mom and dad" split up.

We got Zeus home, safe & sound.
Although a bit unsure at first, he's made himself at home.
Our German Shepherd & he get along great.
Here's a pix the wife took:

I'm certain you are correct. Things are just a bit out of scale. I've grown up w/ Great Danes, German Shepherds and my Doberman's best buddy was a mastiff who was a massive chunk of love, play and wet slobber.
