    In like Flynn

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

it has come to my attention that today is the anniversary of the birth of none other than that prince of players Errol Flynn.

I'm sure that they're raising a glass to him down there in Tasmania where it ought to be a national holiday.

So on this day, that would have been his 99th birthday, I ask you to remember the man who set the standard for the buckling of one's swash.

Earlier this morning I put on the music from The Sea Hawk and picked up the foam rubber cutlasses that I have been saving for just such an occasion and sword-fought my recently-returned-from-college son around the kitchen while he was trying to eat breakfast....in honor of the man...Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk and Robin Hood: Errol Flynn.

I'll raise a glass to the memory of Flynn.

He may not have been quite the hero he always portrayed in real life, but on the silver screen was there anyone to match his elan and panache?

A good excuse to watch "The Adventures of Robin Hood"

    Cheers

I'draise a glass to him as well, although I don't drink any longer, but if one does need an excuse to watch the Adventures of Robin Hood than this would be it.

Allegedly, yes. But you'd have to PM me for the reason why.

Indeed it is. It's my understanding that the phrase denotes one having...

....well, Ol' Errol had a reputation as a bit of a ladies' man...if'n you get my drift...

I think there is a famous quote attributed to him

"My problem is that I like my scotch too old and my women too young"

    Cheers
