making a leather kilt
Hey there everyone. I am starting on a leather kilt. Has anyone here done one before? Are there any problems with the pleats curling with a leather kilt? Working with what I have I am going to make the pleats about one inch showing with about 1.5 inches hidden. Will this be too little? If so I need to get a little more hide.

Canuck on this board is owner and slavemaster at RKilts and makes perhaps the most fabulous leather kilts. I know on my leather kilt he used 6½ yards of leather pleated in reverse Kingussie. That equals about a hide and a half and weighs almost 7 Lbs. PM Robert he's always free with his advise and am sure that if you're going with the expense of leather that he'll want extend every advantage to you.
Good luck.
Edit: Just noticed you're in Victoria, RKilts is based in Stratford, Ontario. He does have some leather out in on the wet coast...
