Best Kilted experience yet
Saturday I was at the Pacific NW Highland games in Enumclaw, beautiful day, several Xmarkers had stoped by (pictures to follow) and then I got a call. My daughter was going to bring our first grandchild into the world at any moment. I was proceeding to leave rather abruptly (Sorrry Joe Gondek, Joe walks up and I shake his hand announcing I was leaving) heading to the hospital. Joe I owe you a few beers for being so rude.
I want to introduce you to
Zoe McKenzie Kirk

if that wasn't the best thing ever, I got to hold her for the first time in my Lamont ancient kilt

That was an extra special life .
Anybody else get to hold your grandchild for the first time kilted?

Congratulations on the new granddaughter, she is beautiful. I am sure your buddy Joe won't be too hurt by your quick exit once he sees the pictures. You'll have to get her a nice tartan baby blanket.

What a great story and some beautiful pictures. Congratulations to you and to all of your family on your first Grandchild.
I haven't had that experience yet since my oldest is only 2 1/2 and I hadn't started wearing kilts till after both of sons were born. Perhaps someday though.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

George,
Congrats. My sister just gave birth on the 1st of this month to a baby girl. She experienced her first highland games today. Arrived at 3:15-3:30 or so, and hung out until the massed bands, and left afterward.
Since I'm still analog, photography-wise, it probably won't be until Tuesday, when I'll have my photos back and ready to be uploaded.
Anyway, hope your daughter and granddaughter are doing well.

Congratulations Granddad! What a great experience for you

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
