Interesting way to hang a kilt
Hey guys,
I just saw this picture:

DO NOT talk about the kilt in the picture (likes/dislikes, etc). This thread is JUST about hanging it. This guy has come up with ANOTHER way to hang kilts on a traditional "pants" hanger. It'll probably only work for guys with size 36 waist or smaller, but I thought it was a neat idea. The dowel and the metal bar will kind of "pinch" the whole top of the kilt and the dowel going through the loops will make sure it doesn't drop. Different, but effective way of hanging.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

That is pretty cool, I really like the wooden skirt hangers from IKEA they cost .99c so I think it's worth having a few of them around, they even hold up my 22oz Gordon Highlander with no problem at all.

I can see this with a lighter weight kilt, but would the weight of a tank over stress the belt loops? I have one or two of those hangers, looks like a good idea.

That would have been my concern as well. And PV doesn't seem to quite be as... solid, I guess as wool. I might do it with a couple of my denim or polycotton kilts, but not the PV's.
But, it is something I've never seen before, and good on him for coming up with something that would work for a sturdier kilt.

Nice idea. I hang my two leather kilts from the belt loops. Each belt loop hangs from an appropriately positioned cup hook. Of course that spreads the weight out to each loop. No problem for many years so far. So wouldn't worry about the belt loops on this rig.

Gee, and I thought the SWK kilt hanger was the ultimate! (They work fine. BTW) This gives me an idea for a hanger for those with somewhat more ample waistlines. . . I'll have to get to the woodshop and give it a try.

I'm sure it isn't the ideal way, but I use cedar pants hangers and fold the kilt in half at the waist before putting it in the hanger. It doesn't seem to do any damage to the kilt and doesn't seem to cause any extra wrinkles. I've got a big waist and none of the other methods worked well for me.
I've tried to use the kilt loops to hang with, but it hasn't worked out for me as well as it did in the picture.
